Summer Learning Experiences at Newark Academy

For more than 50 years, the Newark Academy Summer Programs has been a leader in offering rigorous and engaging summer learning experiences for children. Operating annually from late June through early August, NA Summer Programs provide a variety of opportunities. Students in grades K-12 can participate in dynamic classroom spaces — science labs, music and art studios — and on NA’s spacious athletic fields.

Athletic Camps

Co-ed programs for children entering grades 3-9

Seasoned Newark Academy coaches guide young athletes in a variety of sports including basketball, field hockey, football, soccer, softball, lacrosse and volleyball. Athletes have the opportunity to improve skills in a sport they already play or develop their abilities in a new one. Our Athletic Camps take place on our 68 acre campus, equipped with state-of-the art facilities.

Jump Start & NA-X Courses

JUMP START: For Students Preparing to Enter Kindergarten - Grade 2

Our Junior Jump Start program helps kindergarteners to develop an understanding of key reading and math concepts, setting them on the path to school readiness and achievement. The Jump Start program, which features an 8-to-1 ratio of teachers/aides to students, provides young students in grades 1-2 with school readiness, socialization and ample play time.

Offerings:

  • Kindergarten – Junior Jump Start
  • Grade 1 – Jump Start
  • Grade 2 – Jump Start
  • Lunch Bunch – Eat a healthy lunch and socialize with classmates
  • Stay & Play – Participate in afternoon recreational activities

NA-X: For Students Grades 6-12

A variety of one and two-week-long courses to EXplore an array of subjects, engage in EXperiential learning and learn from Newark Academy faculty and special guests. Course offerings range from neuroscience to Model UN.

Mott-Leeney Baseball Camp

For more than 50 years, Newark Academy’s Mott-Leeney Baseball Camp has encouraged student-athletes, ages 5-13, to explore their passion for baseball while receiving top-notch instruction at one of the finest athletic facilities in the region.

Campers hone their athletic skills in pitching, catching, infield play, outfield play, hitting and base running; while also learning important lessons in sportsmanship, teamwork and the joy of play.

JTole Jazz Camp

For Students Grades 6-12

Whether you want to study jazz or start playing jazz, during the two-week program, each student will learn to play jazz at their specific level and progress to their potential. Students will be assessed and placed in groups based on both experience and ability.
